Pope Francis I

just about to retire to bed at 11.30pm on march 13th, there was a solid knock on my door, hurriedly but enthusiastically a voice telling me with a strong and clear tone: A NEW POPE IS ELECTED ! that was the voice of the rector. so, with the same enthusiasm i ran up to the common television room to get the glimpse of the white smoke....! Oh ! What a surprise ! bbc and aljazeera tvs telecasting it live and there were already thousands of people at the piazza of san pietro ! it was 11.30pm [IST]. i got glued to the tv. soon, a few of my friends and colleagues joined me in, waiting for more details...who could be? from which country? will he be old or young? what if it could be an african or asian or latin american pope?? well, i waited for more than an hour with unabated attention and eagerness ! at last, came the announcement at 12.40pm: HABEMUS PAPAM ! who? from where?? in the dint of noise and chats, i missed the name announced...but heard something like bergolio and francesco ! that sparked a series of guesses and fixations of the identity of the new pope ! then, it dawned on us that the new pope is about to create history of all sorts with the long list of  firsts.....first jesuit, first latin american, first francis and so on ! it was an exhilarating experience with the tv viewing. cardinal archbishop of bunes aires of argentina, jorge mario bergoglio wanting to be called as francis (of assisi, probably!). as soon as he appeared on the balcony of the basilica and in my tv screen....it looked as if he doesn't quite fit the robe! but, with the familiar italian dialect and making all those in piazza and tv viewers to pray for the retired pope and bending down to be blessed before he blessed us all were all touching moments and scenes of simplicity and familiarity with a  paternal bona notte ! indeed, the spirit of god has worked a surprising move to enable 115 cardinals to elect a latin american to tell the world that the axis of faith and faith formation is about to change and would be voiced through a 'religious' pope ! it is exciting to know and share that both the 'black' and the 'white' popes are jesuits as of now! lol ! so, immediately i began to sms my jesuit friends and many of them replied me with a child like upbeat at that odd hour ! by tat time i went to bed after texting my family members and friends, it was 2am! deo gratias ! viva il papa francesco ! love you and pray for you, be sure !
